Vlade's Charity Bowl

Vlade's Charity Bowl was a huge success tonight, largely due to the efforts of Alex Dimitrijevec. Alex (pictured here with Kings VP of Broadcasting Craig Amazeen and yours truly), is the Managing Director in the US for Vlade's Charity, Humanitarian Organization Divac.

Thanks to Alex and Craig, we had Vldade bowling with us for the first game of the night and Kings broadcaster Gary Gerould for the second game. Interestingly, the only Kings players in attendance were Bobby Jackson (that's him in the white shirt behind Craig in the picture), and for a short period of time, Kevin Martin. Quite honestly, Peja and his New Orleans teammate Tyson Chandler, were there for much longer and were much more accessible than Kevin.

Nevertheless, it was a fun night for a great cause. We are looking forward to the Vlade's Jersey Retirement Ceremony tomorrow night. For those of you going to the game and the after party at Tunel 21, we still have a couple of cars available.

Vlade's Charit-a-Bowl is tonight!

Vlade's Charity Bowling Event is tonight at Strikes in Rocklin. We will be participating by not only bowling buy also by providing transportation services to some of the VIPs.

Yesterday, we took Suns great "Thunder" Dan Marjele along with a couple of current Suns players to Vlade's luncheon and then in the evening we took Scott Pollard and his family to the game. Both parties showed their commitment to the environment by choosing our Hybrid Tahoe for their rides.

I just checked with Alex is coordinating tonight's event, and there are still tickets available both to bowl and also to watch. This may be the last time to see Vlade and Peja together in Sacramento, so don't miss the opportunity. Follow this link for more information.

Going Green On Prom Night

Yesterday, The San Jose Mercury News published an article on this subject. While I agree with much of what the author has to say about using organic materials and recycling, I found her comments way off base about the use limousines.

She suggests that prom goers ditch the limo, and simply carpool. Only one problem - by their very nature, limousines are car pools! In fact, by riding in a larger vehicle such as a Hummer which holds 14, or a Party Bus which can hold 20+, prom goers are probably actually reducing the number of cars on the road, and therefore reducing Green House Gas Emissions. Not to mention, they are probably safer with a professional driver!

Couple these facts with a company such as Luxury Limousines or those that are members of the Green Ride Global Network which have taken steps to reduce their carbon emissions, and it seems logical that a limousine is in fact a way of going green on prom night!

Cough Up The Bucks

Here is a little video satire on the state of the economy from the one and only Neil Young. In the video, Neil is seen sitting in a stretch limo reading the Wall Street Journal and repeatedly singing into his cell phone "Cough Up The Bucks". Hopefully, he is talking to Bernie Madoff about recovering some of the money Mr. Madoff appropriated from some of Mr. Young's fellow entertainers.

St. Patrick's Day!

If you plan on participating in today's St. Patrick's Day Celebrations, then might I suggest you give us a call. We still have limos available for tonight (and for this afternoon if you plan on getting an early start).

If you not sure what to do, you might want to try out Sacramento's newest Irish pub, de Vere. Their party started at 9AM, and promises to be so big, that they convinced the City to close down L Street at 16th Street for the entire day.

de Vere is located at 1521 L Street and the outside party will include a beer garden, traditional Irish music and a performance by the local band, Tainted Love. If you don't already have your tickets, admission is only $20.

Hope to see you there.

It pays to know who is driving your limo

As two recent guests on the Dr. Phil Show recently found out, it does pay to know who is driving your limo. The two women guests, who were self described 'Gold Diggers" turned down their limo drivers request to go out with them after the show. The only problem was the fact that their limo "driver" just happened to be Dwight Feeney who has a $72 Million Dollar contract to play on the Indianapolis Colts defensive line.

Here is part of the show's transcript:

“What’s the show about?” Feeney asks, once they are comfortably settled in the car.

“Gold diggers,” Baje replies in a bored tone.

“Rich people are sexy. They have that swag,” Michelle says.

“Guys who really have it, they don’t have to be on Front Street. They don’t have to overdo it. They don’t have to prove anything to anybody,” Baje explains.

“You guys going out tonight?” the driver asks. “Going out with anybody?”

“By ourselves. I usually don’t go to the club with guys, because that kind of defeats the purpose,” Baje says.

“What would be the benefit of you going out with us? Do you know owners of clubs so we can just walk in?” Michelle asks. “Do you want to be my bodyguard?”

Freeney, who is single, understands that there are plenty of gold digging people out there and said that he needs to be mindful of them. “Yeah, it becomes a concern, and it kind of changes your lifestyle,” he said. “As a guy, you want to go out there and find someone who’s genuine, somebody who likes you for you.”

Played Hookey Yesterday

I played hooky yesterday and went exploring in Napa. Unfortunately, I am a creature of habit, and of the four wineries we visited only one was new. For starters, we picked up some sandwiches and chips at the Bouchon Bakery in Yountville. From there we had a private tasting at Orrin Swift in St. Helena. This virtual winery (they are now up to all of five employees) is best known for 'The Prisoner". However, they also produce another red wine known as Papillon, which is now my favorite every day wine.

From there we headed up the road a few miles to see our friend Ralph at Charles Krug. Ralph wasn't in, but as the top picture shows, we nevertheless had a great time. From here, we were less than five minutes away from Duckhorn, the only new winery we made it to. At Duckhorn we sat on their veranda and sampled four of their wines, as well as two from their sister wineries Paraduxx and Goldeneye. This was a great way to chill out and get to know two of our companions who were from the east coast.

The relaxing time at Duckhorn also prepared us for the next stop, which was the over the top cave experience at Del Dotto. Led on our tour by "Bob" (shown here with his wine "thief"), we sampled at least 12 wines from directly from the barrel. This was by third trip to this winery, and I still find it amazing how much different the same wine tastes from a barrels made of different wood, different "toasts" and even the shape of the barrel staves. If you haven't been on such a tour, I would highly recommend making Del Dotto a stop on your next wine adventure.

Our day of wine touring came to a conclusion as we watched the sunset on the veranda at Auberge du Soleil.

Dream Wedding Show Wrap Up

Even though it was a rainy day, the brides were out in force today at the Dream Wedding Show. We would like to congratulate Christina K of Placerville who was the winner of our silver wedding package. We will be furnishing limo service free of charge this July when she exchanges her vows.

I also had the opportunity to snap a few quick pictures. The top pictures features Lisa our Director of Marketing standing between Jennifer and Nicole of Dynamite Weddings. Nicole and Jennifer subscribe to over 200 wedding blogs that they research daily for the very latest in wedding trends. If you are getting married, you simply must read their blog.

In the next picture, Lisa is talking to Cedric of Juke Box Music. Cedric has been gracious enough to offer his services free of charge for a 16 birthday party for one of Lisa's Wish Children. I got to the opportunity to personally thank both Cedric and his wife April for this very kind gesture.

The bottom picture is Shane, one of our chauffeurs at our booth. Shane alternated inside duty with both Ozzie, our General Manager, and Shad our Operations Manager. A special thanks also goes to Buzz Galardo, who produced this wonderful event (and made sure our cars were under cover!).
